“Post on stories”, “Go live on Facebook”, “Write blog posts”… ok, ok! There’s a lot of noise when it comes to where you should broadcast yourself. However, if you’re a solopreneur, a service provider, a coach or a mentor… you’re 100% ready to kick-butt on email. My email list subscribers are my most dedicated fans. They buy my courses, sign up for my programs, get in touch with me with feedback, engage with my content and rave about me online.

1. It’s personal
Social media is hella busy these days. We follow hundreds of people on Instagram, ‘Like’ a bunch of pages on Facebook, but how much of their stuff do we actually read? Not a whole lot.
With email, it’s different. Signing up for someone’s newsletter is a way of telling them, ‘hey, I care about what you have to say’. By getting people signed up to your email list, you’re being welcomed into their private space – it’s a conversation they value and it’s a connection that feels way more personal than a status update.
2. It’s targeted
Spending time on your email list is like spending time nurturing a freakin’-hot-lead! These people are already invested in you, they believe in you and they are interested in learning about what they can buy from you. Unlike going out and scouting for clients yourself, these email subscribers are fresh leads coming straight to you! Targeted, ready to buy and simply awaiting your drop-dead-fabulous sales pitch!
3. It’s your own
On social and even with your website, you’re competing for airtime. Either your tweaking and twerking all over your SEO ranking, or you’re trying to shout the loudest on Instagram – it’s a battle and I’ve met plenty of strong women who have felt pretty burnt-out by the process.
In swoops email again. It’s your space, it’s exactly what you want it to look like and it’s not being compared to the post above or below it. You can make email whatever you want it to be.
4. It’s easier for people to buy from you
A strong subject line, a crafted message of value and a simple, obvious CTA – wow, it’s never been easier for a customer to find what they want! If someone was already thinking of investing in you, you’ve just made it a whole lot easier. Plus, 72% of people prefer receiving promotional content through email… so, duh! Get in there!
5. It’s more effective than social media
Whilst we’re talking stats – 3.57% of people click through on links from email compared with just .07% on Facebook. Social is too general these days and it’s hard to make your incredible offering stand out to those who aren’t already following you. You’re not competing when you email – and the proof is in those percentages 😉
In honesty, I couldn’t launch without my email list. The best thing about launching and using email lists is that one feeds the other… My last launch added 5,000 people to my email list. That’s a further 5,000 people who are ready to buy from me again, or for the first time. I used social media and my personal brand to find them and get them engaged, but the really good stuff is going down in the Inbox – and that’s a party you don’t wanna miss an invite to.
