Left to my own devices, I might have chosen small over BIG, safe over SCARY, thousands of dollars over MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

Without my business coach, I might have missed my calling, my potential, and my mission to empower as many women as possible into entrepreneurship.

Without my business coach, I may never take that next big step into the future to grow my company to that next level of success. And neither will you.

Because your business coach dares you to dream bigger.

Because your business coach is your biggest cheerleader. 

Because your business coach calls you on your shit when you stay small. 

Because your business coach leads you to the edge of possibilities.

But only if you hire an exceptional business coach.

“What do I look for when hiring an exceptional business coach?”, I hear you ask.

Listen up, babe. Here are the #facts: Business coaches are a dime a dozen on the Internet. It seems like everyone wants to get into business coaching and because it’s not a regulated industry, many people do. 

You gotta do your homework, or you’re wasting your precious time and money. 

Only hire a coach if they meet all four of these essential criteria:

Experience

Exceptional business coaches have achieved the results you want to achieve. Look for a coach who is willing to share, speak from their own mistakes and is still doing client work. Ask for testimonials and references. Go beneath the surface of how a business coach manages their image on social media. You aren’t hiring an image and brand colors, babe. You are hiring the essence and grit that got them to where they are…because you want what they’ve got. Look for opposing strengths and ask the hard questions.

Expertise

Often confused, experience and expertise are two different things. Experience is what your prospective coach has accomplished. Expertise is being recognized by others for their accomplishments. An exceptional business coach has both. Hire someone who is a recognized expert in her field. Look for articles published in major business publications on your prospective coach. Look for articles that they have been asked to write about their zone of genius. Regular guest on podcasts? Check. Hosted industry conferences? Check. Delivered lectures? Written books? Developed courses? Check. Check. Check.

Accountability

Let me just state the obvious, babe, you’ve got plenty of friends. Whatever you do, don’t hire a business coach because you think she’d make a great friend. Exceptional business coaches deliver exceptional results because they will hold your feet to fire and inspire you into your highest possible contribution to your business and your life. Sometimes they will piss you off. If they aren’t pisssing you off, they aren’t worth their fees. They will challenge your mindset and your limiting beliefs, motivating you to move mental boulders aside that are standing in your way. Exceptional business coaches are exceptional because they make everyone around them exceptional, including you.

Connections

People go to Harvard for the connections. People hire business coaches for the connections. Look for a business coach who is willing to lift you up into their community of connections, not someone who views you as competition. Exceptional business coaches are leaders in their industry and have built communities of experts, clients, and influencers that you can benefit from. Look for a business coach who has Facebook Groups with strong memberships, purposeful rules of engagement, and the right mix of teaching, inspiration and connection. Remember, your success depends on you reaching them when you need them. They have to be accessible. If you are hiring a business coach with a reputation of the Loch Ness monster, again, you are wasting your time and money, babe. 

Once you’ve qualified your prospective business coach based on experience, expertise, accountability and connection, you’ve got to rely on your secret weapon in every decision you’ll ever make – your GUT! 

Ask yourself, “Does this person help me get more of what I want?” 

Ask yourself, “Will this person help me fall in love with my future?”

Remember y’all, you have to spend money to make money. Exceptional business coaches know their value and will charge for it. Take it from me, they are worth every penny.

Last word of advice? Don’t hire one-hit wonders. Hire a business coach who has launched multiple successful programs, using a process and a framework that is repeatable. Because if they’ve done it multiple times for themselves, they can help you do it as well.
