Intentional, Manageable, Profitable
If you want to grow, scale, and take over your industry, you’re not going to accomplish it by trading hours for dollars or juggling a team’s worth of roles yourself. That’s a straight shot to burnout city, population: you.
“Intentional, Manageable, Profitable” is the mantra I’ve used to scale my multi-million-dollar biz in just a couple of years. Running a business should be fun, but it should also be hella profitable!
Intentional:
Intention is the dedicated and strategic desire to accomplish something. It’s not beating around the bush, it’s being headstrong and pushing towards the goals you want to tick off in a strategic manner. You’ve heard the analogy ‘you wouldn’t start driving somewhere you’d never been before without a map.’ Well that’s what intention is – it’s the map.
You have to be very intentional about what you want from your life, and then build your business around that. Take the time to gain clarity on what you love doing, who you want to serve, how you want to spend your time, and how you want your business to feel. Do you want a business that is constantly dynamic and challenging you, or do you want something that’s a little more rooted in ease and flow? It’s really important that you figure out what you want in a dream world, and then take action towards making those dreams come true.
- Visualize your dream life. Where do you live? How does your business function? Who are you and what do you look like?
- Attach income targets to your goals. It’s great having a vision, but what kind of financial abundance do you need to create in order to live that vision?
Manageable:
Hustling 18 hours a day might sound impressive – but you’ll burn out in months or even weeks. In order to scale sustainably, without crashing out, you need to create systems, processes and structures.
- Write down all the individual elements of your business. What are the day-to-day actions is takes to run your biz?
- Look at that list and work out which of those processes can be replaced by software. Start with things like social media, client onboarding, client management, accounting and invoicing.
- Look at what’s left and decide which are money-making tasks and which are admin. Outsource everything that isn’t a money-making task. As the business owner you should be undertaking the coin collecting – leave the admin to your unicorn VA.
Profitable:
Let’s be real for a second. You created your own business for the same reason I did – financial freedom. There’s no shame in saying that you want to make major coin, ok? Charge what you’re worth and never stop looking for ways to maximize profit.
- Serve clients at different price points. For me, that’s a monthly Facebook program, one-off courses and private Masterminds or coaching. I’m meeting my clients where they are at – how could you do that in your biz?
- Keep scalability in mind. If you’re only trading your time for money and charging an hourly rate, you’re not going to be able to scale unless you literally clone yourself. Create products or services that are scalable – like digital products, courses, group coaching and downloadables. Make your biz work for you!
