4 Things An Intentional Entrepreneur Does Every DayNovember 8, 2019 / , , , ,

By Sabrina Philipp

I get so many questions about what I do in a day that makes me an ‘intentional entrepreneur’.

It’s not as complicated as it sounds, being an intentional entrepreneur doesn’t mean working for hours and hours on end (honestly, Paul always laughs says nobody uses their Netflix account more than I do).

Being an intentional entrepreneur means keeping your focus on money-making tasks. Today I’m going to break that down into 4 key areas – explaining where my focus is and what tools I use for each of those areas so that YOU can add more intention to your business.

Mindset:

I’ve talked on my Facebook page about how mindset and deciding what I want is a huge part of how my I’ve built my business. But what does that look like in reality?

  • Firstly, I set a money goal for the day, then work out what I’m actually going to do to hit that goal. Breaking this down is the intentional part – it’s creating actionable steps that take you from idea to invoice.
  • Later, I spend time working on money blocks, visualizing where I want to be and what I want. I’m sure you’ve noticed it yourself, that when you start thinking about something you want, you see it everywhere! The best example is when you start thinking about a car you like – suddenly it’s on every road you turn down! #mamawantsajag

Marketing:

It’s vital that you spend intentional time on your marketing – making sure you’re creating content that keeps you top of mind. Not every piece of marketing has to be a sell…

  • Value-based marketing is my favorite kind of marketing – teaching something in every piece of content you deliver. This means that people are already convinced of your value before you’ve even introduced your offer.
  • In the same breath, I don’t spend time on the kind of marketing that I’m not good at. I can write content, but it takes me ages. I could probably learn how to run Facebook ads, but for the 15 hours it would take me to nail it, I could’ve brought in over $25k in 1-1 coaching. Which leads me to my next area of focus…

Hiring:

I always hire with the view that I’ll make 10 times more than I’m investing into that person. Hiring people allows me to focus on the money making tasks that only I can do, like creating courses, delivering coaching or creating prosecco-popping video content. (if you’ve seen that video, then you know what I’m talking about… nudge, nudge – Venice!)

How do you know when it’s time to hire? If YOU are the bottleneck, it’s time to hire (this is how to hire intentionally, stopping yourself from losing your own valuable time). I couldn’t live without my operations manager, handing her the day-to-day running of the business allows me to stay in my zone of genius. I don’t need to be answering emails and I don’t need to be struggling through the stuff I don’t know how to do – and neither do you.

Systems:

Ok, down to the nitty-gritty! One of the best ways to be intentional with your time is to automate, streamline and systemize as many business processes as possible. It took my team and I a while to strike the balance, and we’re still learning, but these programs keep our sh*t together in the background so we can focus on our zones of genius.

  • Automate your operating procedures, like onboarding new clients. There are tons of ways to do this – Hubspot has a free system you can borrow 😉
  • Google Docs – Share instructions, designs and ideas with your team, all over the world! Also, be sure to document a new process as you perfect it, so it’s easier to teach someone else how to do it later down the line.
  • Asana – With an ever growing team, Asana allows us to create To-Do lists and tasks that the whole team can keep up to date with, no matter where they are in the world.
  • Slack – Keep work chat out of your personal phone, but still within arms’ reach. Slack is an amazing communication tool because you can split conversations into channels (i.e marketing, customer service, etc).
  • Social media scheduling – Babe, I do not have time to sit and write 3+ Instagram posts a day and neither do you. Buffer, Later, Planoly, Tailwind or any of the others will do, but get your social scheduled in advance and save yourself hours of headache.
  • HelpScout – When you’re nailing a big launch, you don’t need to be distracted by teeny weeny customer service follow ups. HelpScout can auto-reply to a bunch of stuff so you don’t have to!
  • Zapier – Ok I’ve thrown A LOT at you right here, but don’t worry, you don’t need to head straight off and download 28534241 apps… start with Zapier. Zapier tells you which of your apps and programs can work together, so you can basically automate another version of you!

Being an intentional entrepreneur is about doing everything you do with a goal in mind. No procrastination, no hesitation – just aligned, consistent and intentional action towards that six-figure income you know you’re capable of.
