Ever wonder how you can grow a multiple-seven figure business while traveling the world and living life full-on?
Take it from me, I’ve learned and earned my way into a schedule that allows me swap hustle for flow.
OK, OK, maybe not so much travel since Corona has me homebound for a while.
But, babe, I’m traveling far on Netflix. Planning my Balinese wedding for next year. Furnishing my first home in Scotland with Paul. And adding my voice to the growing call for social justice all around thew world in the wake of the George Floyd murder.
I mean, seriously, babe, do you really think all of that takes time away from my business?
Not a chance. And I’ll let you in on my secret.
I live by my time management philosophy of ‘spacious scheduling’ EVERY. DAMN. DAY.
Because it allows me to focus on what matters most.
Because it allows me to balance my priorities and my boundaries.
Because it allows me to manage my schedule as if time were my most precious currency, because it is. (Two-hour naps, anyone?)
Because ‘busy’ is so yesterday.
My schedule looks something like this…
7AM: Wakeup time. Make a pot of tea. Journal. Read. Right now I’m reading ‘Paths to God’ by Ram Dass.
8:30AM: Cook breakfast. Review Slack messages from team/Voxer messages from clients to put my finger on the pulse of my business.
10AM: Daily operations meeting for project updates and priority setting so I can launch an action plan for my day.
11AM: Fill my spiritual cup with ‘me-time’. Relax. Go for a Walk. Watch Netflix. Right now I’m watching ‘Bull’.
12:30PM: Lunch. Gotta fuel up for the rest of my day!
2-4PM: Two power hours of client and team calls. I personally work best in the afternoons, so I bring the best version of myself to my clients and my team.
5:30 PM: Livestream time! The decisions I make and the conversations I have during the day give me fresh content to share on the daily!
7PM: Cook dinner. Right now, I’m loving anything rich in my Le Creuset pot. Maybe creamy mushroom chicken or Beef Bourguignon. Total #girlcrush on Julia Child!
“This sounds so effortless.”, I hear you say. “I still don’t get how you run a multiple seven-figure business that way.”
Right here, right now, I’m going to blow the lid off the myth that working harder gets you farther. Whoever told us that didn’t have the dreams and demands we have.
No, babe, working harder gets you part of the way. Working SMARTER gets you anywhere you want.
So, you see, my schedule isn’t effortless.
Like everything I do, my schedule is Intentional. It’s Manageable. And it’s Profitable. Let me tell you more…
Intentional
Personally, I work best when I have lots of personal space in the mornings – and I protect it like my life depends on it. Because #priorities, babe. It doesn’t matter how much money I make. If I’m not happy doing it, it doesn’t matter. My advice? Set scheduling boundaries that are non-negotiable. What’s your sacred time that fills your cup? Start there. Block that time on your calendar. Fill it with activities that light you up. Yoga. Bath time. Walking your dog. Whatever it is, get after it. Exquisitely. Uninterrupted. Unapologetic. Because filling your cup gives you energy to put back into your business.
Manageable
Do you want to avoid the dreaded ‘busy’ trap? Remember y’all, busy is not a life goal. If you have a busy schedule, you gotta work smarter. I’ve built a rock-solid team that allows me to run my life and business on a manageable schedule. I check in with my team every day, empowering them to lead projects and make decisions. This frees up hella CEO time so I can set the vision for my company and create new programs. My advice? Whatever you can’t automate, delegate. Whatever you can’t delegate, spend your time there. That’s the sweet spot of CEO badassery.
Profitable
Let’s be real for a second. You created your own business for the same reason I did – financial freedom. There’s no shame in saying that you want to make major coin, ok? Your schedule needs to reflect your goals. Remember, where attention goes energy flows. The money will flow if you point your schedule at revenue-generating activities. Following up with warm leads. Getting on another sales call. Developing new offers and pitching them on social media. I focus part of my day, every day, to activities that will generate revenue and help me uplevel my business.
Up to 90% of businesses are going to fail within the first 18 months. I personally believe that’s often because entrepreneurs give up too soon. Because they have schedules that lead them straight to Burnout City.
If you want to do entrepreneurship your way and make bank without breaking a sweat, you need a schedule that is intentional, manageable, and profitable. Say ‘no’ to the daily grind, unless it’s in your coffee.
